New Awnings Provide the Perfect Shade
Everyone enjoys sitting out on the patio when it’s sunny. And if you have a south-facing garden, you get more hours of sunlight than homeowners who don’t. For this reason, a garden that faces south is a great selling point for those looking to buy a property. That’s not to say it doesn’t come without certain problems — something that Keith Riley from Loughton points out.
Keith said: “We have a lot of windows at the rear of the house. Our back garden is very open, and on sunny days in the summer, it just gets too hot to use the decking areas. We also had to keep the curtains and blinds closed to keep the house cool inside.”
“After some thought, we realised that awnings for the back gardens were a good idea to help cool down the decking areas. We looked online and also at other local suppliers and, after chatting to the SWR sales team, we felt confident that Markilux awnings are of good quality and that SWR provide good customer service.”
Markilux awnings come in a range of models, so it was important for the Rileys to get something that would suit their property. Jodie, one of our most experienced salespeople, carefully explained the benefits of the different models and fabrics with examples of prices for the sizes required.
The customer then settled on two Markilux MX-3 Full Cassette Awnings in Havana Brown. A home survey was then arranged with our team for a precise, no-obligation quote.
The Products
The MX-3 has clean lines, a wide spectrum of colours and a simple yet effective design. It’s also a ‘full-cassette awning’, which means it disappears into subtle casing when retracted. The casing also fully protects against wind, rain and other elements when not in use.
With the option of personalising the colour of both the fabric and frame, the MX-3 is a true designer awning. For even more individuality, you can fit dimmable LED strips or LED spotlights under the cassette to light up your outdoor space when it gets dark.
Keith explained: “I particularly like the awning’s general appearance and the great choice of colours for the fabric. We wanted to have shade from the sun, but not to make it dark inside when the awning is extended. Also, having the motor drive with remote control means ease of use, especially on those days when the weather is changeable.”
The Installation
The customer required two awnings as their back garden had two separate decking areas. Our installers came to their home on the agreed date and time to measure up and check that access to electricity was clear for the motor drive units.
The customer was pleased that vibration detectors were installed to ensure automatic retraction if it ever got too windy. Overall, the Rileys are extremely happy with the products and can now enjoy their outdoor space with as little or as much sunlight as they like.
Keith said: “The purchasing process was clearly explained and the awnings were up and working on the day agreed.”
“We are very likely to recommend SWR to friends and family, even more so as the summer progresses and they see the benefits of the awnings for themselves”
